My Master of Technology’s projects in Big Data analytics were completed under the guidance of Professor Shibu Kumar KB, Professor in computer Science department, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, Kottayam. I have completed a mini project on the topic “Noval Scalable DBSCAN Algorithm with Spark”. I did this work on Apache spark and developed a DBSCAN Algorithm using Kd-tree, a data structure which facilitates efficient clustering. DBCAN is density based spatial clustering algorithm, a typical type of clustering algorithm. I have used a big data framework Apache Spark for experimental evaluation. This is tested by using three dimensional points and get result is better than the existing systems. And also avoided some noisy data and reduced search time by applying Kd- tree in algorithm.
My mini project is “Parallelizing Kd-tree For Efficient DBSCAN Algorithm with Spark”. I included some functionality into the existing DBSCAN algorithm (developed as the part of my mini project) and parallelized the Kd- tree. I developed and implemented a noval algorithm for efficient execution of DBSCAN, a popular clustering algorithm, for Big data framework. I have parallelized the high dimensional Kd-tree. I used the Amazon Web Service (AWS) to test this algorithm. I tested both scalability using different number of cores and compared the developed DBSCAN algorithm using Kd- tree and DBSCAN algorithm using Euclidean distance.
